Prayer Blanket Ministry
Junior Troop 1186's
On-Going Service Project
The Prayer Blanket Ministry was introduce to us
by St. Mary's Catholic Church of Texas City, Tx,
in April 2003.

This ministry involves the sewing of lap-size
blankets that are given to many people who are
either sick or going through extremely difficult
times in their life.

Upon completion, each blanket is then blessed by
one of our priests.

The prayer blanket is a symbol of a faith-sharing
community's covering of prayer for the individual
who receives it.
This ministry is a not-profit project that is being served by Girl Scout Junior
Troop 1186 from Christ the King Catholic Church. Our Troop adopted this
ministry in the spring of 2003 and continue to serve our community.

The girls in the troop have given their time to create and make these blankets
themselves.
Who is Eligible to Receive a Blanket?
Anyone: adults or children afflicted physically or emotionally. Many blankets
have been given to those stricken with cancer, heart surgery, illness, and
others who just needed to feel the enormous gift of love and warmth that
emanates from these small blankets.
